34. is tevreden met de voortgaande tenuitvoerlegging van de wetgeving tot wijziging van de wet inzake stichtingen uit 2008, die de herstelmogelijkheden verruimt van de eigendomsrechten van niet-moslimgemeenschappen; dringt er bij de bevoegde autoriteiten op aan de Syrische gemeenschap te helpen de moeilijkheden op te lossen waarmee deze te maken krijgt bij kwesties in verband met de registratie van bezittingen en grond; dringt aan op een oplossing voor de vele bezittingen van de Rooms-katholieke kerk die nog altijd door de staat zijn geconfisqueerd; merkt op dat bijzonder langzaam vooruitgang wordt geboekt bij de uitbreiding van de rechten van de alevitische minderheid; herinnert eraan dat het dringend noodzakelijk is door te gaan met de wezenlijke en substantiële hervormingen op het gebied van de vrijheid van gedachte, geweten en godsdienst, in het bijzonder door religieuze gemeenschappen de mogelijkheid te geven rechtspersoonlijkheid te verkrijgen, door alle beperkingen met betrekking tot de opleiding, benoeming en opvolging van de clerus op te heffen, door alevitische gebedshuizen te erkennen, en door uitspraken van het EHRM en de aanbevelingen van de Commissie van Venetië te eerbiedigen; verzoekt Turkije ervoor te zorgen dat het klooster van de Heilige Gabriël niet wordt beroofd van zijn grond en in zijn geheel wordt beschermd; is van mening dat een ruimere samenstelling van het Directoraat-generaal religieuze zaken, met opname van vertegenwoordigers van de religieuze minderheden, een goede zaak zou zijn, doordat zo een inclusief maatschappijconcept wordt bevorderd; verzoekt Turkije de vermelding van de religie te verwijderen van de nationale identiteitskaarten en te garanderen dat het religieus onderwijs de religieuze diversiteit en pluriformiteit van de Turkse maatschappij eerbiedigt;

Welcomes the continued implementation of legislation amending the 2008 law on foundations and broadening the scope of the restoration of the property rights of non–Muslim communities; calls on the relevant authorities to assist the Syriac community in resolving the difficulties they face in dealing with property and land registration matters; calls for a solution for the large number of properties of the Latin Catholic Church that remain confiscated by the state; notes that progress has been particularly slow in extending the rights of the Alevi minority; recalls the urgent need to continue vital and substantial reform in the area of freedom of thought, conscience and religion, in particular by enabling religious communities to obtain legal personality, by eliminating all restrictions on the training, appointment and succession of clergy, by recognising Alevi places of worships and by complying with the relevant judgments of the ECtHR and the recommendations of the Venice Commission; calls on Turkey to ensure that the Saint Gabriel Monastery is not deprived of its lands and that it is protected in its entirety; believes that a broader composition of the Directorate General for Religious Affairs, so as to include representatives of religious minorities, would prove beneficial, as it would promote an inclusive concept of society; calls on Turkey to remove the reference to religion from national identity cards and to guarantee that religious education respects the religious diversity and plurality of Turkish society;

18. spreekt zijn ernstige verontrusting uit over het snel toenemende aantal aanvallen op etnische, raciale en godsdienstige minderheden in Rusland, veroordeelt de Russische instanties die een aantal protestantse geestelijken en rooms-katholieke priesters geen visa hebben verleend of deze hebben ingetrokken;
