TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

Tijdens de door het Griekse voorzitterschap op 20 maart 2014 te Athene georganiseerde studiebijeenkomst over „Gendergebaseerd geweld in de sport: bescherming van minderjarigen” is opgeroepen tot het aanpakken en regelmatig monitoren van gendergelijkheid in de sport op alle niveaus en in alle takken van sport, waarbij ook aandacht zou moeten worden geschonken aan gendergebaseerd geweld in de sport, alsmede tot het evalueren van het karakter en de omvang van gendergebaseerd geweld in de sport, in het bijzonder in topsport, in de relatie tussen begeleiders en sporters, in de sportieve entourage van sporter en in de onderlinge betrekkingen tussen sporters.
The Hellenic Presidency seminar on ‘Gender Based Violence in Sport: Protection of Minors’ of 20 March 2014 in Athens, called for the addressing and regular monitoring of gender equality in sport at all levels and fields of sport, including gender based violence in sports, and for the assessment of the nature and extent of gender based violence in sport, focusing in particular on elite sport, the coach-athlete relationship, the entourage of the sport-athlete relationship and the peer athlete-athlete relationship.

(20) In de mededeling van de Commissie over de "Ontwikkeling van de Europese dimensie van de sport" van 18 januari 2011 zet de Commissie haar ideeën uiteen voor acties op Unieniveau op het gebied van sport na de inwerkingtreding van het Verdrag van Lissabon en stelt zij een lijst van concrete maatregelen van de Commissie en de lidstaten voor om de Europese identiteit van de sport te vergroten, onderverdeeld in drie globale hoofdstukken: de maatschappelijke rol van sport, de economische dimensie van sport en de organisatie van sport.
(20) The Communication from the Commission on "Developing the European Dimension in Sport" of 18 January 2011 sets out the Commission’s ideas for Union-level action in the field of sport after the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty and proposes a list of concrete actions for the Commission and Member States to increase sport’s European identity in three broad chapters: the societal role of sport, the economic dimension of sport and the organisation of sport.

Sport holds an important place in the lives of many EU citizens and plays a strong societal role with a powerful potential for social inclusion in and through sport, meaning that participation in sport or in physical activity in many different ways contributes to inclusion into society; whereby inclusion in sport involves a combination of ‘sport for all’, equal access to sport, equal opportunities in sport, and varied demand-oriented sporting opportunities and sport facilities, and whereby social inclusion through sport involves inclusive participation in society, community development and strengthened social cohesion.

23. Calls on the Commission and Member States to include gender mainstreaming into all its sports-related activities, with a specific focus on: access to sport for immigrant women and women from ethnic minorities, women's access to decision-making positions in sport and media coverage of women in sport, and to ensure that sport policies and legislation are based upon sex equality;

21. verzoekt sportorganisaties sportbeoefening door vrouwen en deelname van vrouwen in besluitvormende en bestuursorganen van sportorganisaties verder aan te moedigen door meisjes en vrouwen, met name uit kansarme milieus, gelijke toegang te bieden tot sportactiviteiten, de deelname van vrouwen aan sport te stimuleren en aan mannen- en vrouwensport en sportresultaten evenveel waarde toe te kennen en zichtbaarheid te geven; verzoekt de lidstaten maatregelen te ontwikkelen die vrouwelijke sporters in staat stellen hun gezin te combineren met een professionele loopbaan in de sport, en in het regeringsbeleid inzake sport de gelijkheid van mannen en vrouwen te bevorderen; verzoekt de Commissie de uitwisseling van informatie en goede praktijken op het gebied van gelijke kansen voor vrouwen en mannen in de sport aan te moedigen;
21. Calls on sport organisations to further encourage women's participation in sport and in the governance bodies of sports organisations by guaranteeing equal access to sporting activities, in particular for girls and women from disadvantaged backgrounds, by promoting female participation in sport and giving women's and men's sports and results equal prominence and visibility; encourages Member States to develop measures enabling female athletes to reconcile their family and professional sports life and to promote gender equality into governmental policies on sport; calls on the Commission to encourage the exchange of information and good practices with regard to equal opportunities for people of both genders in sport;

Affirms the basic applicability of EU non-discrimination legislation to the field of sports in Europe and calls on the Commission to ensure that any derogations due to the specificity of sports are both legal and limited in scope; considers that there are certain instances, in view of the specific characteristics of sport, where limited and proportionate restrictions on free movement may be appropriate, useful and necessary in order to promote sport in Member States;

Notes that the Commission understands the importance of public support for grassroots sport and sport for all and, therefore, calls on the Commission to develop clear guidelines on the application of EC competition and internal market law (such as state aid rules), that take account of the specificity of sport indicating what kind of public funding can be supported in order to fulfil the social, cultural and educational role played by sport, and also calls on the Commission to consider current European support programmes with a view to the possibilities they offer for promoting sport; notes also that the protection and promotion of sport have constitutional status in some Member States, whence the requirement to guarantee the operational viability of sport;
