TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

In dit verband is het besluit over een toekomstige internationale regeling voor de bossen, die op de 5e vergadering van het UNFF in mei 2005 zal worden genomen, van belang.
In this respect, the decision on the future international arrangement on forests, which will be taken at the 5th session of the UNFF in May 2005, will be significant.

The European Community and its Member States have played an active role in the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), which was established in 2000, and have committed themselves to implementing provisions of other international agreements, conventions and protocols, such as: UNFCCC[3] and its Kyoto Protocol, CBD[4], UNCCD[5], ITTO[6], and CITES[7].

Calls on the Commission and the Member States, in connection with the Sixth Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) in February 2006, to implement the Council conclusions of 26 April 2005, from which it follows that a legally binding instrument is the best means of ensuring sustainable forest management in its environmental and social dimensions;

recognised 'that the Action Plan on FLEGT proposed by the Commission forms part of the firm commitment made by the EU to actively contribute to international processes such as the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF), the expanded work programme of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) with regard to forest biological diversity, the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO) and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)';

11. De Commissie verzoekt samen met de lidstaten en alle belangrijke verbruikende en producerende landen en organisaties via een dialoog een consensus te vinden over de beste manier om het probleem van de illegale houtkap en de daarmee gepaard gaande handel aan te pakken, met name door multilaterale en regionale reacties te bestuderen en de in het actieplan ontwikkelde ideeën op de passende internationale bijeenkomsten zoals het UNFF, de ITTO, de regionale FLEGT-processen, het Asia Forest Partnership en het Congo Basin Forest Partnership, voor te leggen en te bespreken;
11. Invites the Commission together with Member States to engage all the major consumer and producer countries and organisations in a dialogue in order to seek to build a consensus on the best way to tackle the problem of illegal logging and the associated trade, in particular by exploring multilateral and regional responses and by presenting and discussing the ideas developed in the Action Plan at the appropriate international meetings such as UNFF, the ITTO, the regional FLEG processes, the Asia Forest Partnership and the Congo Basin Forest Partnership;
