De Raad hield een oriënterend debat over de aanbeveling van de Commissie van 11 april 2000 inzake de globale richtsnoeren voor het economisch beleid van de lidstaten en de Gemeenschap voor 2000 (GREB's), ter voorbereiding van de bijdrage van de Raad Werkgelegenheid en Sociaal Beleid (WSB) aan de opstelling van de GREB's door de Raad ECOFIN, conform het mandaat van de bijzondere Europese Raad van Lissabon van 23 en 24 maart 2000 volgens hetwelk andere Raadsformaties bij deze werkzaamheden betrokken moeten worden.
The Council held a policy debate on the Commission Recommendation of 11 April 2000 on the broad economic policy guidelines (BEPG) of the Member States and of the Community for 2000 to prepare the Employment and Social Affairs Council's contribution to the drafting of the BEPG by the ECOFIN Council, in accordance with the mandate of the extraordinary European Council meeting in Lisbon on 23 and 24 March 2000 involving the other Council formations in this exercise.
