ONDERZOEK OVER BOVIENE SPONGIFORME ENCEFALOPATHIE (BSE) EN DE VERWANTE ZIEKTEN BIJ DE MENS - CONCLUSIES VAN DE RAAD "OVERWEGENDE dat de Raad in diens conclusies van 14 mei 1996 heeft verklaard dat TSE (besmettelijke spongiforme encefalopathie) een probleem op het gebied van de volksgezondheid vormt en het nodig
heeft gevonden dat alle passende maatregelen worden getroffen om het risico van mogelijke overdraagbaarheid van BSE (boviene spongiforme encefalopathie) uit te schakelen, OVERWEGENDE dat alleen wetenschappelijk onderzoek rationele en betrouwbare antwoorden kan geven op de nog tallo
ze vragen rond deze ...[+++]aandoening en de overheid kan leiden bij de te nemen besluiten, OVERWEGENDE dat samenwerking op communautair niveau tussen nationale onderzoekteams een reële vooruitgang teweeg kan brengen in de kennis ter zake en dat de communautaire dimensie diverse onderzoekmethoden kan ondersteunen, kan bijdragen aan het gebruik van geharmoniseerde criteria en een ruimere multidisciplinaire aanpak kan vergemakkelijken ; De Raad : - ACHT het noodzakelijk dat de samenwerking en de coördinatie van de onderzoeksinspanningen en de uitwisseling van informatie op dit gebied aanzienlijk worden verbeterd en ROEPT de Commissie OP daartoe de nodige maatregelen te treffen ; - VERZOEKT de Commissie bijgewerkte informatie te blijven verstrekken over het onderzoek dat in het kader van het vierde kaderprogramma wordt verricht en in het bijzonder een overzicht te geven van recente verzoeken om voorstellen betreffende boviene overdraagbare spongiforme encefalopathie en het mogelijke verband daarvan met het zenuwstelsel aantastende ziekten bij de mens; - VERZOEKT de Commissie haar onderzoeksactiviteiten met betrekking tot thema's op dit gebied - die zowel fundamentele en toegepaste biologie als aspecten van de menselijke en dierlijke gezondheid en diagnostische aspecten bestrijken - te intensiveren, inzonderheid in het kader van de programma's op het gebied van BIOWETENSCHAPPEN ; - KOMT OVE ...RESEARCH ON BOVINE SPONGIFORM ENCEPHALOPATHIES (BSE) AND RELATED HUMAN DISEASES - COUNCIL CONCLUSIONS "WHEREAS the Council, in its Conclusions of 14 May 1996, stated that the issue of TSEs (transmissible spongiform encephalopathies) constitutes a problem in the field of public health and considered it necessary that all appropriate measures be taken to eliminate the risk of possible transmission of BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy), WHEREAS only scientific research can provide rational, valid answers to the numerous questions this pathology continues to pose, and guide governments on the decisions they will have to take, WHEREAS cooperation
