(6a) The strategic objectives of the Integrated Maritime Policy include integrated maritime governance at all levels, the further development and implementation of integrated sea-basin strategies tailored to the specific needs of Europe's different sea basins, the further development of cross-cutting tools for integrated policy-making aiming to improve synergies and coordination between existing policies and instruments through maritime-related data and knowledge-sharing, the closer involvement of stakeholders in integrated maritime governance schemes, the protection and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, the definition of the boundaries of sustainability of human activities and the protection of the marine and coastal environment and biodiversity in the framework of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Water Framework Directive, which constitute the environmental pillar of the Integrated Maritime Policy.

Uw rapporteur deelt ook de opvatting dat het geïntegreerde maritieme beleid van de EU sterk gebaat zou zijn bij een geïntegreerde ontwikkeling van de Zwarte-Zeeregio, en dringt derhalve aan op een goede ontwikkeling van de Zwarte-Zeedimensie in het kader van het geïntegreerde maritieme beleid van de EU.
Your Rapporteur also shares the opinion that EU’s Integrated Maritime Policy could greatly benefit to an integrated development of the Black Sea region, and therefore insists on the proper development of the Black Sea dimension within the Integrated Maritime Policy of the EU.

Gelet op de grote verscheidenheid aan situaties en gebieden in de hele Gemeenschap, moet het beleid voor de ontwikkeling van visserijgebieden deel uitmaken van een geïntegreerde aanpak op basis van een passende territoriale strategie en aangepast aan de plaatselijke context; voorts moet dit beleid zo gedecentraliseerd mogelijk zijn, voorrang geven aan participatie van actoren in het veld en gebaseerd zijn op een bottom-up benadering; voor het beleid moeten ook kleinschalige concrete acties in aanmerking komen en er moet sprake zijn van een substantiële participatie van actoren uit de particuliere sector.
Having regard to the diversity of situations and areas throughout the Community, the policy for the development of fisheries areas should form part of an integrated approach based on an appropriate territorial strategy, be adapted to the local context, be as decentralised as possible, give preference to the participation of actors on the ground, be based on a bottom-up approach, allow small-scale operations and ensure the substantial participation of private sector actors.

5. De bestrijding van de klimaatverandering zal een geïntegreerd deel zijn van het externe beleid van de Europese Unie en een van de prioriteiten vormen in het communautaire beleid voor duurzame ontwikkeling.
