Welcomes the decision of the relevant Federation ministry to take over responsibility temporarily for financing cultural institutions such as the National Library and the Museum of History; calls on the BiH authorities to ensure that efforts are made to urgently solve the status of the seven national cultural institutions – the National Museum, the Arts Gallery, the History Museum, the Literature and Theatre Museum, the Film Archive, the National Library and the Library for Blind Persons – so that they have a proper legal and financial status; calls for a long-term solution to the financing of these institutions;

33. verwelkomt het besluit van het bevoegde federale ministerie om tijdelijk de verantwoordelijkheid over te nemen voor het financieren van culturele instellingen als het Nationaal Museum, de Nationale Bibliotheek en het Historisch Museum, zodat een aantal daarvan weer open kan gaan en al deze instellingen weer naar behoren kunnen functioneren; roept op tot snelle opheldering van de status van de zeven nationale culturele instellingen, te weten het Nationaal Museum, de Galerij der Kunsten, het Historisch Museum, het Museum voor Literatuur en Toneel, het Filmarchief, de Nationale Bibliotheek en de Bibliotheek voor Blinden, zodat zij een degelijke juridische en financiële status genieten; pleit voor een langetermijnoplossing voor de financiering van deze instellingen;

17. onderstreept dat het van belang is om de Europese digitale bibliotheek te ontwerpen en te organiseren op basis van een geheel aan middelen en technische mogelijkheden, waardoor het genereren, zoeken en gebruiken van informatie wordt vereenvoudigd, en dat de digitale bibliotheek meer is dan een digitale catalogus van Europese documenten;
17. Emphasises that the European digital library must be planned and organised on the basis of a pool of resources and technical capabilities able to facilitate the creation, research and utilisation of information and should not consist merely of a digital catalogue of European works;

11. onderstreept bovendien dat de Europese digitale bibliotheek het onderzoek op het gebied van digitalisering, interoperabiliteit en digitaal behoud zal bevorderen, in het bijzonder door de competentiecentra die de Commissie in het leven heeft geroepen, daar de Europese digitale bibliotheek immers niet van de grond kan komen zonder een krachtige OO-component;
11. Emphasises, given that the project cannot be translated into reality without a substantial research and development component, that the European digital library will encourage research in the areas of digitisation, interoperability and digital preservation, particularly through skills centres set up by the Commission;

Q. overwegende dat het in dat opzicht goed is voort te bouwen op bestaande Europese initiatieven die behulpzaam zijn bij het opzetten van de digitale Europese bibliotheek, zoals TEL, de Europese Bibliotheek waarmee al toegang kan worden verkregen tot de documenten uit de collecties van Europese nationale bibliotheken en met name gezocht kan worden in de digitale of bibliografische bestanden van 23 van de 47 nationale bibliotheken, het project TEL-ME-MOR, dat gericht is op de integratie van de tien nationale bibliotheken van de nieuwe lidstaten, het EDL-project, dat de integratie beoogt van negen andere nationale bibliotheken in EU/EFTA-verband, en Europeana, die de nationale bibliotheken van Frankrijk, Hongarije en Portugal samenbrengt,
Q. whereas it is appropriate to use as a basis existing European initiatives which will contribute to the initial development of the European digital library, such as TEL (the European Library), which already provides access to documents held in European national library collections and in particular enables searches to be undertaken through the digital or bibliographical resources of 23 of the 47 national libraries, the TEL-ME-MOR project, which contributes to the integration of the 10 national libraries of the new Member States, the EDL project, which seeks to integrate 9 other national libraries in the framework of EU/EFTA, and Europeana, which brings together the national libraries of France, Hungary and Portugal,
