In het algemeen komen voor het communautaire initiatief KONVER onder meer de volgende maatregelen in aanmerking : - maatregelen ten behoeve van de ecologische sanering van militaire terreinen en zones waar het milieu ernstige schade heeft opgelopen ten gevolge van militaire activiteiten, het opruimen en renoveren van niet meer gebruikte militaire gebouwen en omliggende terreinen, modernisering van dergelijke gebouwen ten behoeve van het MKB, landschapsarchitectuur, kleine werkzaamheden ter verbetering van het uiterlijk van de bebouwde omgeving en aanleg van toegangswegen naar de nieuwe bedrijventerreinen; - bevordering van andere economische bedrijvigheid met een accent op de oprichting of ontwikkeling van ondernemingen in het midden- en kleinbedrijf; - herstel en modernisering van de sociaal-economische infrastructuur (b.v. openbare voorzieningen, wegen, drinkwater- en elektriciteitsvoorziening) in van de defensiesector afhankelijke gebieden op voorwaarde dat kan worden aangetoond dat dergelijke maatregelen een integrerend en essentieel deel uitmaken van een beleid voor het economisch herstel van het betrokken gebied.
The KONVER programme has the following general objectives: - improvements to the environment and refurbishment of military premises and sites seriously altered by military activity, cleaning up and converting closed- down military buildings and their environment, modernization of these buildings for the installation of small and medium-sized businesses, landscaping, small-scale work to improve the amenity value of these built-up areas and construction of access roads to sites with new activities; - promotion of alternative economic activities, the accent being put on the creation and development of small businesses; - renovation and modernization of the social and economic infrastructure (for example public amenities, roads, water and electricity supply) in areas with defence sector activities, provided that it can be shown that these operations form an integral part of and constitute an essential element in a strategy for restoring the economy in the areas concerned.
