Ik waardeer het dat in het verslag veel belang wordt gehecht aan economische en handelskwesties, maar ik wil de rapporteur in het bijzonder bedanken voor het feit dat hij het advies van de Commissie ontwikkelingssamenwerking steunt en India niet alleen maar ziet als een land dat een dynamische economische ontwikkeling doormaakt, een land met een groot potentieel en een belangrijke handels- en economische partner van Europa, maar ook als een land met een bijzonder ingewikkelde sociale structuur en grote verschillen qua ontwikkelingspeil en de verdeling van baten.
I appreciate the significance of the economic and commercial issues contained in the report, but I would particularly like to thank the rapporteur for supporting the opinion of the Committee on Development, and viewing India not just as a country undergoing dynamic economic development, a country with great potential and an important trading and economic partner for Europe, but also as a country with a particularly complex social structure, and a country of great inequalities in terms of development levels and in the distribution of profits gained.
