In zijn toespraak kondigde voorzitter Juncker aan dat de Commissie uiterlijk in november een geautomatiseerd Europees systeem voor reisinformatie en -autorisatie (ETIAS) zou voorstellen om te bepalen wie er naar het Schengengebied mag komen.
In his speech, President Juncker announced that by November the Commission will propose a European Travel Information System (ETIAS) – an automated system to determine who will be allowed to travel to the Schengen Area.

Het opzetten van dit systeem is als prioriteit opgenomen in het stappenplan van Bratislava dat door de 27 leiders van de EU is goedgekeurd en ondertekend. Urges the industry to develop a clear infrastructure which is ICT-accessible to everyone for ‘through tickets’ (i.e. transport contracts for several legs of a journey using the same mode) and integrated tickets (i.e. contracts for intermodal transport chains), with an emphasis on smart cards; draws attention in this connection to the Rail Regulation, which requires computer-assisted information and reservation systems to be adapted to common standards, so as to enable travel information and ticketing services to be organised on an EU-wide basis;
