IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Artikel 14, lid 6, EOV bepaalt dat het Europees octrooischrift moet worden gepubliceerd in de proceduretaal voor het EOB en een vertaling van de conclusies in de twee andere officiële talen van het EOB moet bevatten.
Article 14(6) of the EPC provides that the specification of a European patent is published in the language of the proceedings before the EPO and includes a translation of the claims into the other two official languages of the EPO.

Onverminderd de overgangsregelingen zijn geen verdere vertalingen vereist wanneer het octrooischrift van een Europees octrooi met eenheidswerking overeenkomstig artikel 14, lid 6, EOV is gepubliceerd.
Without prejudice to the transitional arrangements, where the specification of a European patent with unitary effect has been published in accordance with Article 14(6) of the EPC, no further translations should be required.

Ten slotte zal ons voorstel ertoe bijdragen dat de octrooikosten in Europa aanzienlijk kunnen worden teruggebracht. Men hoeft immers geen aanvullende vertalingen meer te laten maken van het octrooischrift zodra dit eenmaal is ingediend in een van de drie talen van het Europees Octrooibureau.
Finally, our proposal will help to reduce considerably the costs of patents in Europe by not requiring supplementary translations of the patent once it has been delivered in one of the three languages of the European Patent Office.

Wij menen dan ook dat de verplichting om het gehele octrooischrift in alle talen te vertalen in het algemeen belang moet worden gehandhaafd. De in het octrooischrift opgenomen informatie heeft immers gevolgen voor de maatschappij op Europees en wereldniveau.
We therefore believe that the requirement for the patent documents to be fully translated into all the languages should be maintained in order to protect the public interest since the information contained in such documents has an impact on society both within Europe and beyond.
