In 2014 heeft het Europees platform voor efficiënt hulpbronnengebruik (EREP) ook gewezen op de noodzaak om een brede strategie te ontwikkelen voor groenere banen en vaardigheden en groener onderwijs, en heeft het de EU ertoe opgeroepen duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen te integreren, arbeidsmarktinstrumenten te inventariseren om de overgang te begeleiden, EU-financiering ter beschikking te stellen, uitwisseling van goede praktijken te steunen, bewustmaking en inzet te bevorderen, en follow-up van het Europees semester voor coördinatie van het economisch beleid te garanderen[10].
In 2014 the European Resource Efficiency Platform (EREP) also highlighted the need to develop a broad strategy for greening jobs, skills and education, and called upon the EU to integrate sustainability objectives, identify labour market instruments to accompany the transition, mobilise EU funding, support exchange of good practice, promote awareness raising and engagement, and ensure follow up in the European Semester of economic policy coordination[10].

4. erkent dat de Roma-bevolking, die al eeuwen deel van ons gemeenschappelijk erfgoed uitmaakt en de grootste etnische minderheid in de EU is, in tijden dat de bevolkingssamenstelling verandert en zich andere processen afspelen die voor de EU als geheel gevolgen hebben, via hoogwaardig onderwijs, behoorlijke huisvesting en kansen op werk geprikkeld moet worden om ten volle haar plaats op de werkplek in te nemen en bij te dragen tot intelligente, duurzame en geïntegreerde economische ontwikkeling overeenkomstig de EU 2020-strategie, met name het initiatief "Europees platform tegen armoede"; is van mening dat sociale integratie een voorwaarde is voor het halen van de doelstellingen van de EU 2020-strategie; verzoekt de lidstaten en de plaatselijke en regionale overheden dan ook hun inspanningen op te voeren door intensivering van hun daadwerkelijke strategieën voor het aanpakken van de specifieke omstandigheden (bittere armoede, gebrek aan onderwijs en toegang tot sociale diensten, gebrekkige gezondheidsomstandigheden, ontbreken van documenten van de burgerlijke stand, aparte en benedenmaatse huisvesting, lage arbeidsparticipatie) van randgemeenschappen, als dwingende voorwaarde ter bestrijding van de maatschappelijke uitsluiting van Roma en bij te dragen tot verdere integratie in de lidstaten; benadrukt dat een geslaagd beleid een combinatie is van benaderingen waarbij rekening wordt gehouden met sociale, economische en culturele factoren;

Recognises that, in times of demographic change and other processes affecting the EU as a whole, the Roma population, which has been part of our common heritage for centuries and is the largest ethnic minority in the EU, should be given incentives through good quality education, decent housing and job opportunities to fully integrate into the work place and contribute to smart, sustainable and inclusive economic development as foreseen in the EU 2020 strategy, in particular in the ‘European Platform against Poverty’ initiative; takes the view that social inclusion is a precondition for achieving the EU 2020 strategy objectives; calls on the Member States and the local and regional public authorities, therefore, to increase their efforts now, by reinforcing their effective strategies for addressing the specific circumstances (deep poverty, lack of education and access to social services, poor health conditions, lack of civil registration documents, segregated and substandard housing, low level of employment) of marginalised communities, as an imperative in order to combat social exclusion of the Roma population and contribute to further integration within Member States; emphasises that a successful policy is a mixture of approaches taking social, economic and cultural factors into account;
