IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

144. verzoekt de Commissie te overwegen om de toetreding tot het Europees Sociaal Handvest voor te stellen teneinde de sociale rechten van de Europese burgers effectief te beschermen; verzoekt de lidstaten de uitbreiding te bevorderen van de sociale rechten in het Handvest van de EU naar andere, in het herziene Sociaal Handvest van de Raad van Europa opgenomen sociale rechten, zoals het recht op arbeid, het recht op een billijke beloning en het recht op bescherming tegen armoede en sociale uitsluiting;
144. Calls on the Commission to consider proposing accession to the European Social Charter, in order effectively to safeguard the social rights of European citizens; calls on the Member States to promote the extension of the social rights in the EU Charter to other social rights mentioned in the revised Social Charter of the Council of Europe such as the right to work, the right to fair remuneration, and the right to be protected from poverty and social exclusion;

G. overwegende dat overeenkomstig de preambule van het VEU de lidstaten hun gehechtheid hebben bevestigd aan de sociale grondrechten zoals omschreven in het Europees Sociaal Handvest; overwegende dat in artikel 151 VWEU ook een expliciete verwijzing is opgenomen naar de sociale grondrechten zoals die bijvoorbeeld zijn vastgelegd in het Europees Sociaal Handvest;
G. whereas in accordance with the preamble of the TEU, the Member States have confirmed their attachment to social rights as defined in the European Social Charter; whereas Article 151 TFEU also contains an explicit reference to fundamental social rights such as those set out in the European Social Charter;

R. overwegende dat zowel de preambule van het Verdrag betreffende de Europese Unie, de artikelen 8, 9, 10, 19 en 21 van het Handvest van de grondrechten van de Unie als de rechtspraak van het Europees Hof van Justitie het belang van de sociale grondrechten hebben erkend door deze hun beslag te doen vinden in transversale beginselen van het communautair recht, waardoor onderstreept wordt dat de EU verplicht is de grondrechten en fundamentele vrijheden te waarborgen, zoals de vakbondsrechten, het recht op staking, het recht op vereniging, vergadering, enz., zoals vastgelegd in het Europees Sociaal Handvest, en overwegende dat artikel 151 van het Verdrag betreffende de werking van de Europese Unie een expliciete verwijzing bevat naar de fundamentele sociale rechten zoals vastgelegd in het Europees Sociaal Handvest;
R. whereas the preamble of the Treaty on European Union, Articles 8, 9, 10, 19 and 21 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the case law established by the EU Court of Justice acknowledge the importance of fundamental social rights through their embodiment in cross-cutting principles of Community law, thus making it clear that the EU must guarantee fundamental rights and freedoms, such as trade union rights, the right to strike, and the right of association, assembly, etc., as defined in the European Social Charter, and whereas Article 151 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union contains an explicit reference to fundamental social rights such as those set out in the European Social Charter;

roept de EU-lidstaten op de fundamentele mensenrechtenverdragen van de VN en de Raad van Europa en de bijkomende facultatieve protocollen te ondertekenen en te ratificeren: onder meer het Europees Sociaal Handvest (herzien), het Verdrag inzake de bestrijding van mensenhandel, het Kaderverdrag inzake de bescherming van nationale minderheden, het Europees Handvest voor regionale talen of talen van minderheden van de Raad van Europa, alsook het VN-Verdrag tegen foltering en andere wrede, onmenselijke of onterende behandeling of bestraffing, het VN-Verdrag betreffende de status van vluchtelingen, het VN-Verdrag inzake de bescherming van de rechten van alle migrerende werknemers en hun gezinsleden, het VN-Verdrag ter bestrijding van georganiseerde criminaliteit en de twee bijbehorende protocollen betreffende het smokkelen van immigranten en mensenhandel, het VN-Verdrag inzake de uitbanning van alle vormen van discriminatie van vrouwen, het VN-Verdrag inzake de rechten van het kind en het VN-Verdrag inzake de rechten van personen met een handicap; stelt bovendien voor dat in het Europese wetgevingsproces meer rekening wordt gehouden met en meer wordt verwezen naar internationale documenten;
Calls on the EU Member States to sign up to, and ratify, the core Council of Europe and United Nations human-rights conventions and the additional optional protocols: among others, the European Social Charter (revised), the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages of the Council of Europe, as well as the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the UN Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, the UN Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families, the UN Convention on Organised Crime and its two protocols against human trafficking and smuggling, the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; furthermore, suggests that, in the European legislative process, more account be taken of international documents and more reference made to them;

Het Handvest bevestigt met name de rechten in de grondwetten, de gemeenschappelijke internationale verplichtingen van de lidstaten van de Unie, het Europees Verdrag tot bescherming van de rechten van de mens en de fundamentele vrijheden, het Europees Sociaal Handvest, het Gemeenschapshandvest van de sociale grondrechten van de werkenden en het Verdrag betreffende de Europese Unie, inzonderheid artikel 6.
The Charter reaffirms the rights as they result, in particular, from the Constitutional traditions and international obligations common to Member States of the Union, from the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, from the European Social Charter and the Community Charter of the Fundamental Social Rights of Workers or from the Treaty on European Union itself and in particular its Article 6.

Andere internationale verdragen ter bescherming van de rechten van de mens en de rechten van minderheden die Kroatië heeft geratificeerd, zijn het Europees Verdrag ter voorkoming van foltering, het Europees Handvest voor regionale en minderheidstalen. Daarentegen heeft Kroatië het Europees Sociaal Handvest uit 1996 nog niet getekend.
Among the other international conventions protecting human rights and minorities, Croatia has ratified the European Convention on the Prevention of Torture, the European Charter for Regional and Minority Languages but has to sign the 1996 European Social Charter.
