1. Deze gedragscode trekt de gedragscode van 20 april 2011 en het besluit tot oprichting van het ethisch comité ad hoc van 21 oktober 2003 in en vervangt deze.
1. The present Code of Conduct shall repeal and replace the Code of Conduct of 20 April 2011 and the Decision establishing the ad hoc ethical committee of 21 October 2003 .

Het comité adviseert de Commissie op verzoek van de voorzitter over elk ethisch vraagstuk in verband met deze gedragscode en doet de Commissie algemene aanbevelingen over ethische kwesties in het kader van de gedragscode.
On request of the President, the Committee shall advise the Commission on any ethical question related to this Code and provide general recommendations to the Commission on ethical issues relevant under the Code.

Op 15/1/1999 heeft het Europees Parlement een resolutie goedgekeurd over "EU-normen voor in ontwikkelingslanden werkende bedrijven: naar een Europese gedragscode". Het Parlement pleit - met het oog op een grotere standaardisering van vrijwillige gedragscodes - voor een op internationale normen gebaseerde Europese gedragscode. Voorts is het Parlement voorstander van de oprichting van een Europees controleorgaan dat onder meer klachten kan behandelen en problemen verhelpen.
On 15/1/1999 the European Parliament adopted a Resolution on "EU standards for European enterprises operating in developing countries: towards a European Code of Conduct" calling for a European code of conduct which would contribute to a greater standardisation of voluntary codes of conduct based on international standards and the establishment of a European Monitoring Platform, including provisions on complaint procedures and remedial action.
