Appreciates the distinction drawn between deindustrialisation and structural change and agrees with the Commission’s assessment that ‘European industry is having to face up to a process of structural change which is beneficial overall, and which should be encouraged’; notes, however, that the analysis of industrial change is incomplete and that there is no indisputable data on delocalisation; considers, therefore, that the Commission should ask a group of experts, which should work closely with and draw heavily on the existing knowledge and expertise of the European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC), to draw up a report on the subject for the European Council;

De overeenkomstsluitende partijen komen overeen de Gemengde Commissie die bij de in 1983 ondertekende Samenwerkingsovereenkomst is ingesteld, te handhaven; zij komen ook overeen de Subcommissie Wetenschap en Technologie, de Subcommissie Industriële Samenwerking en de Subcommissie Commerciële Samenwerking, te handhaven.
1. The Contracting Parties agree to retain the Joint Committee established pursuant to the 1983 Cooperation Agreement; likewise, they agree to retain the Subcommittee on Science and Technology, the Subcommittee on Industrial Cooperation and the Subcommittee on Trade Cooperation.

The Joint Committee took note of the progress made since its last meeting in the field of cooperation, in particular as regards human resource development, promotion of economic reform, environment, energy, business and industrial cooperation, scientific and technological cooperation and financial and technical assistance.

In dit opzicht toonde het Gemengd Comité zich tevreden over het succes van het recent opgezette programma voor bedrijfs- en industriële samenwerking dat erop gericht is de rechtstreekse contacten tussen ondernemingen uit te breiden.
In this respect, the Joint Committee welcomed the success of the newly established programme for business and industrial cooperation aiming at the increase of direct contact between enterprises.
