– (PT) Mevrouw de Voorzitter, naar aanleiding van het antwoord van de commissaris zou ik willen vragen of hij niet van mening is dat het een grove fout is een dergelijk besluit louter te baseren op statistieken die de jagers zelf verzameld hebben en of een meer realistische kijk van de Commissie op de werkelijkheid niet beter zou zijn gezien de berichten in de Maltese pers en de opinies onder de vogelaars.
– (PT) Madam President, the question I would like to ask following the Commissioner’s answer is whether or not he considers it a crass error to take a decision of this nature solely on the basis of statistics gathered by the hunters. Would it not be better for the Commission to adopt a perspective that takes closer account of the reality of the situation, bearing in mind what the Maltese press and the birdwatching community have said?
