De keuze van weefsels moet worden gebaseerd op overwegingen zoals: 1) de toedieningsroute of de locatie van eerste contact (bv. glandulaire maag als toediening oraal is, long als toediening per inhalatie is, of huid als topicaal wordt aangebracht), en 2) farmacokinetische parameters die in algemene toxiciteitsonderzoeken zijn waargenomen en die iets zeggen over weefseldispositie, -retentie of -accumulatie, of doelorganen voor toxiciteit.

The choice of tissues should be based on considerations such as: 1) the route of administration or site of first contact (e.g. glandular stomach if administration is oral, lung if administration is through inhalation, or skin if topical application has been used); and 2) pharmacokinetic parameters observed in general toxicity studies, which indicate tissue disposition, retention or accumulation, or target organs for toxicity.
