107. wijst in het bijzonder op het belang van het aangaan van een constructieve dialoog met de Islamitische Conferentie Organisatie (ICO) daaromtrent; roept de Raad en de Commissie op om bijzondere aandacht te besteden aan de uitvoering van het recht op vrijheid van religie of overtuiging in kandidaat-lidstaten en ENB-landen, met name tegen de achtergrond van de Arabische Lente; drukt zijn diepe bezorgdheid uit over het toenemende aantal uitingen van religieuze onverdraagzaamheid en discriminatie in verscheidene landen; veroordeelt alle vormen van geweld tegen christenen, joden, moslims en andere religieuze gemeenschappen krachtig, alsook alle vormen van discriminatie en onverdraagzaamheid op grond van religie en overtuiging jegens gelovigen, geloofsafvalligen en ongelovigen; onderstreept andermaal dat het recht op vrijheid van denken, geweten en godsdienst een fundamenteel mensenrecht is ; erkent in een aantal landen de groeiende behoefte aan conflicttransformatie en verzoeningspogingen, met inbegrip van interreligieuze dialoog op verschillende niveaus, en dringt er bij de EU en hoge vertegenwoordiger/vicevoorzitter Ashton op aan om discriminerende en opruiende inhoud, bijv. in de media, en belemmeringen voor de vrije belijdenis van een geloof aan te pakken in hun dialogen met derde landen, in het kader van EU-initiatieven inzake mensenrechten; is van mening dat in derde landen waar religieuze minderheden te maken krijgen met schendingen van hun rechten, de problemen niet opgelost kunnen worden door hen te beschermen en ze te isoleren van de omringende samenlevingen en zo „parallelle samenlevingen” te creëren; spoort de EDEO en de EU-lidstaten in het kader van de recente gebeurtenissen in landen als Nigeria, Egypte en Indonesië aan om concrete maatregelen te treffen om het ontstaan van een spiraal van geweld te helpen voorkomen;

Stresses in particular the importance of engaging in a constructive dialogue with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on this issue; calls on the Council and the Commission to pay special attention to implementing the right to freedom of religion or belief in candidate and ENP countries, especially in the light of the Arab Spring; expresses its profound concern about the increasing number of acts of religious intolerance and discrimination in various countries; strongly condemns all acts of violence against Christian, Jewish, Muslim and other religious communities, as well as all forms of discrimination and intolerance based on religion and belief against religious people, apostates and non-believers; stresses once again that the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion is a fundamental human right ; recognises the growing need in a number of countries for conflict transformation and reconciliatory efforts, including inter-faith dialogue at various levels, and urges the EU and VP/HR Ashton to address discriminatory and inflammatory content, e.g. in the media, and the issue of obstacles to the free profession of faith in its/her dialogues with third countries in the context of EU initiatives on human rights; considers that in third countries where religious minorities are faced with violations of their rights, such problems cannot be solved by protecting and isolating them ‘from’ the surrounding societies and thus creating ‘parallel societies’; urges the EEAS and the EU Member States, in the light of recent events in countries such as Nigeria, Egypt and Indonesia, to put in place concrete actions to help prevent the emergence of a cycle of violence;

De EU zal nauw contact blijven onderhouden met de Arabische Liga, de Verenigde Naties, de Islamitische Conferentie Organisatie, de Samenwerkingsraad van de Golf en andere regionale organisaties, teneinde een forum te bieden voor het coördineren van hun optreden tav Syrië ter ondersteuning van de initiatieven van de Arabische Liga mbt de Syrische crisis.
The EU will remain in close contact with the League of Arab States, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council and other regional organisations with the aim of providing a forum for coordinating their action on Syria in support of the League of Arab States' initiatives with regard to the Syrian crisis.

Voorts werken we samen met voorzitter Jean Ping van de Afrikaanse Unie, Amr Moussa van de Liga van Arabische Staten en uiteraard met zijn opvolger, en met professor Insanoglu van de Islamitische Conferentie Organisatie (ICO). De samenwerking vindt plaats onder aanvoering van de speciale VN-gezant Al-Khatib.
There is also our collaboration with the African Union with President Jean Ping, and the Arab League with Amr Moussa and, of course, his successor, and with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference and Professor Insanoglu, under the leadership of the UN special envoy, Al-Khatib.

In particular, it commends the Indonesian cease-fire monitoring and observer team for its successful organisation of the peace talks, the OIC, which has consistently played a constructive role, and the contribution of the Indonesian Government as chair of the OIC Ministerial Committee of the Six and the host of the formal talks.
