Ik weet niet of de Fransen hun werkloosheidsproblemen hebben verholpen, die zij in de aanloop tot het referendum hebben uitgebuit om een negatieve uitkomst te bewerkstelligen, maar ik ben wel van mening dat zij de ideeën en welwillendheid van de nieuwe lidstaten hebben misbruikt en bovendien een groot Europees land - mijn buurland Polen - hebben vernederd door de Poolse lasser als symbool te gebruiken.
I do not know whether the French cured their unemployment problems, which they exploited in the run-up to the referendum, by means of the negative outcome of the latter. I believe that, on the contrary, they have abused the ideas and good will of the new Member States and, moreover, humiliated a major European country – my neighbour, Poland – by using the Polish welder as a symbol.
