Door de Commissie werden diverse initiatieven ontplooid in antwoord op resoluties van de Raad of verzoeken van het Parlement, bij voorbeeld: - De Commissie heeft een Europese waarnemingspost voor de werkgelegenheid opgezet met als belangrijkste componenten het onderling informatiesysteem inzake werkgelegenheidsbeleid (MISEP) en het communautair documentatiesysteem inzake werkgelegenheid (SYSDEM); - In 1986 kwam de Commissie met haar Actieprogramma ter bevordering van de plaatselijke werkgelegenheid (LEDA).
