Tezamen met de MAC-richtlijn (2006/40/EG) kan deze verordening naar verwachting een aanzienlijke vermindering van de emissies tegen 2020 en in de periode daarna opleveren.
A Report from the Commission on the application, effects and adequacy of the Regulation EC No 842 concludes that this Regulation has already achieved some reduction of emissions of F-Gases compared to a scenario without the Regulation. Together with the MAC Directive (2006/40/EC) they have the potential to achieve a significant reduction of projected emissions by 2020 and beyond.

De rapporteur betreurt het dat er met betrekking tot de klimaatregeling van voertuigen van meer dan 3,5 ton geen verband is gelegd met de evaluatie van Richtlijn 2006/40/EG betreffende emissies van klimaatregelingsapparatuur in motorvoertuigen (de MAC-richtlijn), die in juli 2011 bekend zou worden gemaakt en verzoekt de Commissie een herziening van deze richtlijn te overwegen om voertuigen van meer dan 3,5 ton daarin op te nemen.
As regards air-conditioning systems in vehicles of more than 3.5 tonnes, the rapporteur laments the absence of a report on the review of Directive 2006/40/EC relating to emissions from air-conditioning systems in motor vehicles (MAC), which was due to be published in July 2011, and calls on the Commission to consider amending the directive to cover vehicles with a mass of more than 3.5 tonnes.
