In plaats van al dat juridische kunst- en vliegwerk toe te passen, zou Europa zich moeten concentreren op de concrete problemen en al zijn energie moeten richten op de bescherming van het productiewezen en de werkgelegenheid. Europa moet met feiten komen en niet met mistige bureaucratische verhalen, zoals de heer Mandelson heeft gedaan als reactie op de heftige, en terechte, kritiek van de Europese industrie.
Instead of quibbling over these legal subterfuges, Europe should focus on its practical problems and summon its energies to protect production, work and jobs, for instance by responding to the specific, weighty concerns of European industries with facts rather than with vague bureaucratic jargon, as Mr Mandelson has done.
