Vorige week zijn vier Belgische burgers om het leven gekomen in de provincies Waals-Brabant, Oost-Vlaanderen en Henegouwen, aan de grens met het hoofdstedelijk gewest en in het noorden van het land.
Last week, four Belgian citizens lost their lives in the provinces of Waals-Brabant, Oost-Vlanderen and Henegouwen, on the border between the capital and the northern part of the country.

C. overwegende dat België en Ierland om steun gevraagd hebben in verband met ontslagen in de textielsector in de Belgische provincies van West- en Oost-Vlaanderen en Limburg en in de computerindustrie in de Ierse graafschappen Limerick, Clare en North Tipperary alsook in de stad Limerick ,
C. whereas Belgium and Ireland have requested assistance in respect of cases concerning redundancies in the textiles sector in the Belgian regions of East and West Flanders and Limburg , and in the computer manufacturing industry in the Irish counties of Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary, as well as the city of Limerick ,

De Belgische aanvragen, EGF/2009/004/BE/textiel Oost- en West-Vlaanderen en EGF/2009/005/BE textiel Limburg, die op 5 mei 2009 zijn ingediend bij de Commissie en waarvoor op 29 juni 2009 aanvullende informatie werd geleverd, hebben betrekking op 2 199 ontslagen in 46 bedrijven uit de textielsector die gelegen zijn in de aan elkaar grenzende provincies Oost- en West-Vlaanderen en in de provincie Limburg.
The Belgian applications, EGF/2009/004/BE/Oost en West Vlaanderen textiles and EGF/2009/005/BE/Limbourg textiles, submitted to the Commission on 5 May 2009 and supplemented with additional information on 29 June March 2009, relates to 2.199 redundancies occurred in 46 enterprises operating in textiles sector, all located in two contiguous NUTS II regions of East and West Flanders and a single NUTS II region of Limburg.

Afgezien van de problemen in verband met de voorwaarden van cofinanciering door Vlaanderen van de programma's voor de steden (Antwerpen en Gent) en een duidelijk probleem om de ESF-projecten van het programma voor Oost-Vlaanderen van de grond te krijgen, geeft de ontwikkeling van de programma's geen aanleiding tot bijzondere opmerkingen. Alleen voor het ESF-programma voor Oost-Vlaanderen bestaat het risico dat de n+2-regel toegepast moet worden.
Apart from difficulties relating to the rules on part-financing by the Flemish Region for urban programmes (in Antwerp and Ghent) and a clear problem with setting up projects under the ESF part of the West Flanders programme, the programmes progressed without giving rise to specific comments - except for a risk of the N+2 rule being applied to the ESF in West Flanders.

Vlaanderen heeft vier doelstelling 2-programma's ingediend, die alle ook nog een component "overgangssteun" bevatten. Het betreft Limburg, Antwerpen, West-Vlaanderen en Oost-Vlaanderen.
Flanders proposed four Objective 2 programmes, each of which includes a transitional component as well: Limburg, Antwerp, West Flanders and East Flanders.
