Een van de doelstellingen van het Bolognaproces was een Europese kwalificatiestructuur voor het hoger onderwijs uit te werken.[15] Met het voorstel dat momenteel op tafel ligt en dat op de vergadering van de ministers van onderwijs in Bergen moet worden goedgekeurd, wordt niet alleen een gemeenschappelijk kader tot stand gebracht voor de verschillende bachelor-, master- en doctortitels, maar ook voor de kwalificaties van universitaire opleidingen van korte duur (nominaal 120 ECTS-punten).
Creating a European framework for higher education qualifications has been a major objective of the Bologna process[15]. If adopted, the proposal submitted to Ministers at their forthcoming Bergen meeting will provide a common reference not only for all various types of bachelor, master and doctoral degrees, but also for “shorter” post-secondary qualifications around a notional level of 120 ECTS points.

‘Protected Designation of Origin’/‘Protected Geographical Indication’/‘Traditional Speciality Guaranteed’/‘mountain product’: an indication is to be given whether the holding produces agricultural products and/or foodstuffs protected by a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) or a mountain product indications or whether it produces agricultural products which are known to be used to produce foodstuffs protected by PDO/PGI/TSG/‘mountain product’, within the meaning of Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council (3).

In 2006 werd middels een gezamenlijke aanbeveling van het Europees Parlement en de Raad opgeroepen tot de invoering van interne systemen voor kwaliteitsborging in overeenstemming met normen en richtlijnen die aangenomen waren in Bergen in het kader van het proces van Bologna, alsmede voor de vorming van het Europese register van nationale organisaties van kwaliteitsborging (EQAR). In de aanbeveling werd een beroep gedaan op de lidstaten om hun instellingen voor hoger onderwijs in staat te stellen om een organisatie van kwaliteitsborging of accreditering uit de EQAR-lijst te selecteren die voldeed aan hun behoeften en profiel, vooropgesteld dat dit in overeenstemming was met hun nationale wetgeving of toegestaan was door hun nationale autoriteiten.
In 2006, a joint European Parliament and Council recommendation called for the introduction of internal QA systems in line with standards and guidelines adopted in Bergen in the context of the Bologna Process, as well as for the creation of the European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies (EQAR).The recommendation called on Member States to enable their HE institutions to select a quality assurance or accreditation agency from the EQAR list that meets their needs and profile, provided that this is compatible with their national legislation or permitted by their national authorities.
