A. overwegende dat de exploratie en exploitatie van de ruimte internationale samenwerking vereist en dat voor het Europese ruimtevaartbeleid de samenwerking met de Verenigde Staten en met de andere ruimtemachten (in het bijzonder met Rusland en China) van fundamenteel belang is,
A. whereas the exploration and use of space involve international cooperation; whereas for European space policy, cooperation with the United States and with other space powers (particularly Russia and China) is fundamental,

10. verzoekt de Commissie een nader onderzoek in te stellen naar de gemeenschappelijke beleidssectoren (vervoer, onderzoek en technologie, landbouw, milieu en veiligheid) die door het ruimtevaartbeleid worden ondersteund en die als de voornaamste pijlers fungeren voor de publieke vraag, aangezien niet kan worden ontkend dat voor de investeringen in het ruimtevaartbeleid overal ter wereld overheidsmiddelen nodig zijn, maar dat deze situatie kan worden verbeterd door de particuliere sector erbij te betrekken; verzoekt met name de Commissie de mogelijkheden inzake innovatievere en goedkopere ruimteconcepten te onderzoeken, bijvoorbeeld door een prijs uit te reiken, zoals de prijs in de VS voor een succesvolle suborbitale passagiersvlucht ;
10. Calls on the Commission to probe more deeply into the common policies (on transport, research and technology, agriculture, the environment, and security) for which space policy provides support and which constitute the key areas of public demand, bearing in mind that it is impossible to ignore the fact that, no matter what part of the world might be concerned, investment in space policy needs public resources but that this could be enhanced by involving the private sector; believes, in particular, that the Commission should investigate the potential for more novel and cheaper space concepts, by the offer of a prize, such as that offered in the USA for a successful sub-orbital passenger flight;
