maintain close cooperation with the United Nations (UN), in particular the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Mali, the African Union (AU), in particular the AU High Representative for Mali and the Sahel, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and other leading national, regional and international stakeholders including other Special Envoys for the Sahel, as well as with the relevant bodies in the Maghreb area;

– gezien het raamwerk van de Verenigde Naties „Protect, Respect and Remedy” („Beschermen, respecteren en genoegdoening”) voor ondernemingen en mensenrechten, dat is voorgesteld door de speciaal vertegenwoordiger van de secretaris-generaal inzake mensenrechten en transnationale ondernemingen en andere ondernemingen, professor John Ruggie, en in 2008 unaniem is goedgekeurd door de VN-Raad voor de rechten van de mens (resolutie 8/7), gezien de onlangs gepresenteerde richtsnoeren voor de tenuitvoerlegging van het raamwerk en tevens gezien de conclusies van de Raad Buitenlandse Zaken van 8 december 2009, die de belangrijke rol van bedrijven noemen in de verwezenlijking van volledige eerbiediging van de mensenrechten en die de volledige steun van de Raad voor het werk van de speciaal vertegenwoordiger van de VN herhalen ,
– having regard to the United Nations ‘Protect, Respect and Remedy’ Framework for business and human rights proposed by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises, Professor John Ruggie, endorsed unanimously by the UN Human Rights Council in 2008 (resolution 8/7), the recently released guiding principles for implementing the framework and the Foreign Affairs Council conclusions of 8 December 2009 which note the important role of business in achieving full respect for human rights and reiterate the Council's full support for the work of the UN Special Representative ,

15. betreurt dat er momenteel maar één vrouw werkt als persoonlijk vertegenwoordiger van de Hoge Vertegenwoordiger voor het gemeenschappelijk buitenlands en veiligheidsbeleid (GBVB) van de EU, terwijl er 14 posten zijn van speciaal vertegenwoordiger/persoonlijk vertegenwoordiger/speciaal gezant of speciaal coördinator ; roept de Hoge Vertegenwoordiger voor het GBVB van de EU ertoe op meer vrouwen te benoemen als speciaal vertegenwoordiger van de secretaris-generaal, vertegenwoordiger of speciaal gezant; roept de Hoge Vertegenwoordiger voor het GBVB van de EU ertoe op de lidstaten te verzoeken om bij hem naast mannelijke kandidaten ook vrouwelijke kandidaten voor te dragen wanneer hij kandidaten zoekt voor dergelijke hoge posten;
15. Regrets that there is only one woman currently serving as Personal Representative of the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) out of 14 positions of EU Special Representative/Personal Representative/Special Envoy or Special Coordinator ; urges the EU High Representative for the CFSP to appoint more women to the positions of Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG), Representative or Special Envoy; calls upon the EU High Representative for the CFSP to request that Member States submit to him the names of female candidates alongside those of male candidates when he is considering filling such high-level positions;

Er zijn in Sarajevo en in Skopje speciale vertegenwoordigers van de secretaris-generaal/hoge vertegenwoordiger van de EU en in november 2005 is een gezamenlijke speciale vertegenwoordiger van de EU en hoofd van de delegatie van de Commissie benoemd in de voormalige Joegoslavische Republiek Macedonië.
