210. Stresses the importance of continuing to provide assistance to the Turkish Cypriot community according to the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 389/2006, as also noted by the Commission in its reply to the Court of Auditor's Special Report; stresses the importance of bringing the Turkish Cypriot community closer to the Union in order to facilitate the process of reunification; takes the view, therefore, that in future, the resources allocated to (i) the promotion of social and economic development, (ii) the development and restructuring of infrastructure, (iii) reconciliation, confidence-building measures and support to civil society, (iv) bringing the Turkish Cypriot community closer to the Union, (v) the preparation of legal texts aligned with the acquis communautaire , (vi) preparation for the implementation of the acquis communautaire , as well as to fostering economic integration as a matter of priority, should be increased and the related bi-communal programmes should be intensified;

In Verordening (EG) nr. 389/2006 van de Raad van 27 februari 2006 tot instelling van een instrument voor financiële steun ter bevordering van de economische ontwikkeling van de Turks-Cypriotische gemeenschap wordt het comité dat is ingesteld bij Verordening (EEG) nr. 3906/89 van de Raad van 18 december 1989 betreffende economische hulp aan bepaalde landen in Midden- en Oost-Europa („het Phare-comité”) aangewezen om de Commissie bij te staan bij het beheer van de bijstand aan de Turks-Cypriotische gemeenschap.
Council Regulation (EC) No 389/2006 of 27 February 2006 establishing an instrument of financial support for encouraging the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community designates the committee provided for in Council Regulation (EEC) No 3906/89 of 18 December 1989 on economic aid to certain countries of Central and Eastern Europe (the ‧Phare committee‧) to assist the Commission in the management of the assistance to the Turkish Cypriot community.

25. neemt nota van de opvatting van het begrip assimilatie zoals naar voren gebracht door premier Erdogan tijdens zijn recente officiële bezoek aan Duitsland; is daarom van mening dat de Turkse regering stappen moet nemen om alle burgers in staat te stellen hun culturele identiteit te ontwikkelen binnen de democratische Turkse staat; wijst in dit opzicht op de verplichtingen als uiteengezet in het kader voor onderhandelingen met betrekking tot respect voor en bescherming van minderheden en effectieve toegang tot het leren van andere talen dan Turks, tot het verzorgen van uitzendingen in andere talen dan het Turks alsmede tot openbare diensten in andere talen dan het Turks;
25. Takes note of Prime Minister Erdogan´s assessment of assimilation, as expressed during his recent official visit to Germany; is therefore of the opinion that the Turkish government should take steps to enable all citizens to develop their cultural identity within the democratic Turkish state; points out in this regard the commitments set out in the Negotiating Framework concerning respect for and protection of minorities, and effective access to the learning and broadcasting of, and to public services in, languages other than Turkish;

C. overwegende dat op 28 april 2002 een nieuw proces tegen Riad Turk en andere opposanten van start is gegaan en dat de zaak wordt behandeld door een buitengewoon tribunaal dat uitspraken doet waartegen geen beroep mogelijk is,
C. whereas a fresh trial against Riad Turk and other opposition figures began on 28 April 2002, and whereas the case is being heard by a special court against whose sentences there is no right of appeal,
