Het huidige economische stelsel — in de kern mondiaal en digitaal — is gebaseerd op internationale waardeketens; dit houdt in dat de conceptie, de vormgeving en de productie in meerdere fasen en in verschillende landen plaatsvinden.

5. Emphasises the emerging importance of the EU as a global political player; considers that, as such, it has a strong responsibility to help tackle the most urgent problems resulting from economic globalisation, namely the growing social imbalances within and among economic systems and the unchecked destruction of the global environmental commons, and to set common foreign economic policy tools which take adequate account of the external impacts of the EU’s single-market policies;

Een economisch stelsel is solide als het al zijn productiesectoren in staat stelt om economisch te groeien en als het in staat is om deze sectoren, inclusief de traditionele productiesectoren, steeds sterkere en grotere impulsen te geven op het vlak van technologische innovatie in processen en producten. An economic system is solid if it enables all of its production sectors to grow economically and if it is able to provide these sectors, including traditional production sectors, with ever stronger and more robust injections of technological innovation in processes and products; if it is able to introduce huge amounts of research, diversification and the ability to keep up with new developments, thus maintaining our position in the world market and defending the size of Europe's balance of trade.
