29. constateert met instemming dat de resolutie inzake de Democratische Republiek Congo werd aangenomen, maar blijft zeer bezorgd over de mensenrechtenschendingen in het land, vooral in de Noord-Kivu provincie in het oostelijk gedeelte van het land; veroordeelt ten scherpste de aanvallen van de rebellenstrijdkrachten in het oosten van het land op de burgerbevolking, inclusief vrouwen en kinderen, met name door de M23; veroordeelt ten scherpste het systematisch gebruik van verkrachting als oorlogswapen; is verheugd over de inspanningen van de Internationale Conferentie voor de regio van de Grote Meren, de Afrikaanse unie en de VN om een vreedzame politieke oplossing voor de crisis te vinden; dringt opnieuw aan op herinstelling van een onafhankelijke deskundige van de VN inzake de mensenrechtensituatie in de Democratische Republiek Congo, teneinde over een betrouwbaar mechanisme te beschikken dat zich richt op een verbetering van de situatie betreffende de ernstige en reeds lang bestaande bezorgdheid over de mensenrechten in dit land; evenals op een verslag van de speciaal vertegenwoordiger van de VN voor seksueel geweld in conflicten, Margot Wallström;

Was pleased to note the adoption of the resolution on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but remains deeply concerned about the human rights violations in the country, notably in the North Kivu province, in the eastern part of the country; strongly condemns the attacks by rebel forces in the east of the country on the civilian population, including women and children, notably by the M23; strongly condemns the systematic use of rape as a weapon of war; welcomes the efforts made by the member states of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGRL), the African Union and the UN to find a peaceful political solution to the crisis; calls again for the reestablishment of a UN Independent Expert on the human rights situation in the DRC in order to provide a reliable mechanism focusing on improving the situation regarding the grave and long-standing human rights concerns in the country; as well as a report by the UN Special Representative on sexual violence in conflict, Margot Wallstrom;
