IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Met deze intensievere inspanningen zullen de EU en haar lidstaten actief steun verlenen aan de verdere implementatie van het gezamenlijk actieplan van Valletta van 2015 en de opstelling van de mondiale VN-pacten over migratie en vluchtelingen waartoe werd opgeroepen in de Verklaring van New York voor vluchtelingen en migranten van 2016.
Through these strengthened efforts, the EU and its Member States will actively support the further implementation of the joint 2015 Valletta Action Plan and the elaboration of the UN Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees, as called for by the 2016 New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants.

De Raad heeft in zijn conclusies van 3 april 2017 onderstreept dat de Europese Unie actief betrokken zal blijven bij de processen die leiden tot de uitwerking van het mondiale pact inzake vluchtelingen en het mondiale pact inzake migratie, zulks als vervolg op de goedkeuring van de verklaring van New York voor vluchtelingen en migranten in september 2016. De Raad heeft in dit verband benadrukt dat alle vluchtelingen- en migrantenkinderen moeten worden beschermd, ongeacht hun status, en dat het belang van het kind te allen tijde voorop moet staan. Dat geldt ook voor niet-begeleide kinderen en kinderen die van hun familie zijn gescheiden, in overeenstemming met het VN-verdrag inzake de rechten van het kind en de facultatieve protocollen daarbij.
In its conclusions adopted on 3 April 2017, the Council underlined that the European Union will continue to actively engage in the processes leading to the elaboration of the Global Compact on Refugees and Global Compact on Migration, following the adoption of the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants in September 2016 In this context, the Council reaffirmed the need to protect all refugee and migrant children, regardless of their status, and give primary consideration at all times to the best interests of the child, including unaccompanied children and those separated from their families, in full compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols.

REFERRING to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and recalling the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the conclusions of the 1993 Vienna Conference on Human Rights, the Covenants on Civil and Political Rights and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, the International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the other instruments of international humanitarian law, the 1954 Convention relating to the status of stateless persons, the 1951 Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 New York Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees.

BESLOTEN HEBBENDE, getrouw aan hun gemeenschappelijke humanitaire traditie, vluchtelingen een passende bescherming te garanderen, overeenkomstig de bepalingen van het Verdrag van Genève van 28 juli 1951 betreffende de status van vluchtelingen, zoals gewijzigd bij het Protocol van New York van 31 januari 1967, hierna "Verdrag van Genève" respectievelijk "Protocol van New York" genoemd;

2. With respect to the application of paragraph 1, stateless persons as defined by Article 1 of the Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons signed at New York on 28 September 1954, and refugees as defined by Article 1 of the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees signed at Geneva on 28 July 1951 and modified by the Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees signed at New York on 31 January 1967, shall be regarded as nationals of the country in which they have their habitual residence.
