Het eindrapport van de eSafety Working Group bevat 28 gedetailleerde aanbevelingen voor activiteiten die bestemd zijn voor de Europese Commissie, de lidstaten, de vervoers- en verkeersveiligheidsautoriteiten, de automobielindustrie, dienstverleners, gebruikersverenigingen, het verzekeringswezen en andere spelers.
Le rapport final du groupe de travail «eSafety» contient 28 recommandations précises concernant les mesures à prendre, qui s'adressent à la Commission européenne, aux États membres, aux autorités chargées des routes et de la sécurité, à l'industrie automobile, aux fournisseurs de services, aux clubs automobiles, aux assurances et autres parties prenantes.

In het besef van de mogelijkheden hiervan heeft de Europese Commissie in 2002 samen met de automobielindustrie en andere sectoren de eSafety Working Group opgezet. Deze uit ongeveer 40 deskundigen bestaande werkgroep kreeg de opdracht een strategie te ontwikkelen om het onderzoek, de ontwikkeling, de introductie en de toepassing van op ICT gebaseerde intelligente veiligheidssystemen ter verbetering van de verkeersveiligheid in Europa in een stroomversnelling te brengen.
Consciente de ces possibilités, la Commission européenne a créé en 2002, en association avec l'industrie automobile et les autres parties concernées, un groupe de travail «eSafety» comprenant une quarantaine d'experts et l'a chargé de proposer une stratégie pour accélérer la recherche, le développement, le déploiement et l'utilisation de systèmes de sécurité intelligents basés sur les TIC en vue d'améliorer la sécurité routière en Europe.

De eSafety Working Group [17] heeft een inventarisatie gemaakt van dergelijke systemen, b.v. systemen voor veilige snelheidsregeling, rijstrookbewaking, veilig afstandhouden, voetgangerbescherming, verbetering van het gezichtsveld, observatie van de bestuurder en kruispuntbeveiliging.

Om de praktische uitvoering van de overeenkomst te ondersteunen heeft de Groep Douanesamenwerking van de Raad (Customs Co-operation Working Group - CCWG) in 2002 een handleiding samengesteld, die toelichtingen voor de betrokken instanties bevat over de bepalingen van de overeenkomst en de wijze waarop ze moeten worden toegepast.
