Recalls the UfM's commitment to support the establishment of a deepened free trade area in the Euro-Mediterranean region and enhanced regional and sub-regional economic integration; considers that the establishment of a free trade area on the southern shore of the Mediterranean and between the North and the South will lead to stronger links and increased trade and investment amongst the partner countries, thus helping to bridge the North-South divide; calls, therefore, for the Agadir Agreement to be implemented properly and extended to all eligible Mediterranean partners; stresses the importance of increasing complementarity between North-South bilateral cooperation and multilateral Euro-Mediterranean cooperation;
Rappelle l'engagement de l'UpM à soutenir la création d'une zone de libre-échange approfondie dans la région euro-méditerranéenne et une meilleure intégration économique régionale et sous-régionale; considère que la création d'une zone de libre-échange dans la rive Sud de la Méditerranée et entre le Nord et le Sud permettra d'approfondir les liens et d'augmenter les échanges commerciaux et les investissements entre les pays partenaires et participe à l'objectif de combler le fossé Nord-Sud; invite à ce titre à une mise en œuvre effective de l'Accord d'Agadir et à son extension à l'ensemble des partenaires méditerranéens éligibles; insiste sur l'importance de renforcer la complémentarité entre les coopérations bilatérales Nord-Sud et les coopérations multilatérales euro-méditerranéennes;

Calls on the Commission and the UfM to supply information concerning the fulfilment of financial commitments to support active participation of women in economic and social life and in development, action programmes designed to promote education and training for women and access to the labour market, and efforts to boost the role of women in business;

Met dit luik wordt uitvoering gegeven aan UN-resolutie 1612 van de Veiligheidsraad [...] "to establish a monitoring and reporting mechanism (MRM), managed by country-based task forces co-led by UNICEF and the highest UN representative in the country, to provide timely and reliable information on six grave children's rights violations: a) Killing or maiming of children b) Recruitment or use of children by armed forces or armed groups c) Attacks on schools or hospitals d) Rape or other sexual violence against children e) Abduction of children f) Denial of humanitarian access to children" De activiteiten die België financiert, richten zich op: - enerzijds functionerende MRM's en implementatie van actieplannen in CAR, Tsjaad, DRC, Myanmar, Filippijnen, Somalië, Zuid-Soedan; - en anderzijds een bijdrage voor het hoofdkwartier "to support functioning of MRM at all levels.

La Belgique répartit les moyens alloués entre deux types d'intervention: - soutien à des mécanismes de surveillance efficaces et mise en oeuvre de plans d'action en RCA, Somalie, RDC, aux Philippines, au Myanmar et au Soudan du Sud; - appui au siège de l'Unicef pour la mise en place effective à tous les niveaux du MRM.

Eveneens op Europees niveau geeft het standpunt van de EU, zoals het blijkt uit de conclusies van de Raad van Algemene Zaken en Buitenlandse Zaken van 30 september 2002 over het Internationaal Strafhof, aanleiding tot ongerustheid en kritiek, hoewel « the council confirms that het European Union is firmly committed by the EU Common Position to support the early establishment and effective functioning of the International Criminal Court and to preserve the full integrity of the Rome Statute ».
Au niveau européen toujours, la position de l'UE, reflétée dans les conclusions du Conseil Affaires générales et Affaires extérieures du 30 septembre 2002 relatives à la Cour pénale internationale, soulève inquiétudes et critiques, bien que « le Conseil confirme que l'Union européenne s'est fermement engagée par la position commune de l'UE, à appuyer la mise en place à bref délai et le bon fonctionnement de la Cour pénale internationale et à assurer le plein respect de l'intégrité du Statut de Rome ».
