De Britse parlementaire groep All Party Parliamentary Group on the Great Lakes Region of Africa en de Swedish Foundation for Human Rights schreven in oktober 2008 het rapport Justice, Impunity, and Sexual Violence in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo waarin ze verschillende aanbevelingen opsommen voor de internationale gemeenschap en donorlanden.
Le groupe parlementaire britannique All Party Parliamentary Group on the Great Lakes Region of Africa et la Swedisch Foundation for Human Rights ont rédigé, en octobre 2008, le rapport Justice, Impunity and Sexual Violence in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo dans lequel ils adressent différentes recommandations à la communauté internationale et aux pays donateurs.

De internationale gemeenschap steunt de IC/GLR omdat Afrika hiermee de kans krijgt eigen verantwoordelijkheid op te nemen bij het zoeken naar oplossingen voor de conflicten in Centraal Afrika; een bewijs hiervoor is de oprichting van een “Group of Friends of the Great Lakes region” waarvan de meest betrokken landen deel uitmaken en die tot voor kort onder het voorzitterschap stond van de Speciale Gezant van de EU voor de regio van de Grote Meren en Canada.
La Communauté Internationale soutient la CIRGL en tant qu’appropriation africaine de la recherche des solutions pour les conflits en Afrique centrale; en témoigne notamment la constitution d'un groupe « Amis de la CIRGL W, réunissant les pays les plus intéressés, jusqu'à il y a peu sous présidence de l'Envoyé Spécial de l'UE pour les Grands Lacs et du Canada.

De klemtoon moet echter worden gelegd op het initiatief van de International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, een initiatief van de regio zelf.
