By virtue of the remits set out in its rules of procedure, FRONTEX is responsible for carrying out risk analysis based on the information gathered by the competent authorities in the Member States, for facilitating operational cooperation between the Member States and third countries, and for cooperating with the competent authorities of third countries and with international organisations through, for example, exchanges of experience on border control issues, the training of border guards, operational information exchanges and joint operations.
Sur la base des compétences reconnues par son règlement, l’agence FRONTEX est chargée d’effectuer des analyses de risque en fonction des informations recueillies par les autorités compétentes des États membres, de faciliter la coopération opérationnelle entre les États membres et les pays tiers, de coopérer également avec les autorités compétentes des pays tiers et avec des organisations internationales, par exemple au travers de l’échange d’expériences sur les questions de contrôle des frontières, la formation de garde-frontières, l’échange d’informations opérationnelles et les opérations conjointes.

Les informations classifiées échangées ou élaborées par les parties sont marquées, gérées et protégées conformément à l’accord passé entre l’Union européenne et le gouvernement des États-Unis d’Amérique sur la sécurité des informations classifiées du 30 avril 2007 et son arrangement de mise en œuvre, à l’arrangement de sécurité entre le bureau de sécurité du secrétariat général du Conseil (SCG) et la direction de la sécurité de la Commission européenne (DSCE) et le département d’État des États-Unis pour la protection d’informations classifiées échangées entre l’Union européenne et les États-Unis.
