COSAC welcomes the enhanced possibilities for parliamentary scrutiny of EU affairs which is a result of the strengthening of the parliamentary dimension of EU activities brought about by the Lisbon Treaty; notes in this context the increased ability of both national Parliaments and the European Parliament to influence European policy and the possibility for greater cooperation in order to secure democratic scrutiny of European policy.
La COSAC accueille les possibilités élargies de contrôle parlementaire des affaires de l'UE, résultant du renforcement de la dimension parlementaire des activités de l'UE découlant du Traité de Lisbonne; constate dans ce contexte la capacité accrue des Parlements nationaux et du Parlement européen d'influencer la politique européenne et la possibilité d'une plus grande coopération afin de garantir le contrôle démocratique de la politique européenne.

The Treaty of Lisbon has strengthened EU action in the field of judicial and police cooperation in criminal matters, including in combating trafficking in human beings, and the European Parliament, in becoming co-legislator, has a full role to play.
