− We voted against this agreement because: it aims to return people to a country where, according to the UNHCR Global Appeal 2010–2011, around 212 000 people were internally displaced for more than 16 years, living in need of shelter and means to become self-sufficient, where sexual and gender-based violence is rife in all parts of society and police ill-treatment is tolerated; it also applies to those former residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia who do not have any de facto links to Georgia; it does not include strict safeguards concerning the violation of fundamental rights and guaranteeing high standards of reception, which are poor in Georgia; it contains numerous loopholes and ambiguities which might be clarified in the Joint Readmission Committee in which Parliament regrettably has no say, which would be entirely legitimate regarding its new competences; it does not guarantee adequately the protection of personal data – data can be forwarded to ‘other bodies’ without requiring the consent of the person involved.

4. Reiterates its full support for the UN Security Council resolution adopted under Article 41, Chapter VII of the UN Charter; endorses the European Council conclusions of 14 December 2007; welcomes the agreement reached at the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the UNSC permanent members and Germany as well as the EU High Representative for CFSP at their meeting in Berlin on 22 January 2008 on a new draft resolution on Iran which foresees further measures and the fact that the international community maintains a common approach to the issue;
4. réaffirme son appui intégral à la résolution du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies adoptée au titre de l'article 41 du chapitre VII de la Charte des Nations unies; fait siennes les conclusions du Conseil européen du 14 décembre 2007; se félicite de l'accord conclu lors de la réunion des ministres des affaires étrangères des membres permanents du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies et de l'Allemagne, ainsi que du Haut Représentant de l'UE pour la PESC, qui s'est tenue à Berlin le 22 janvier 2008, à propos d'un nouveau projet de résolution sur l'Iran qui prévoit de nouvelles mesures, ainsi que du fait que la communauté internationale maintienne une approche commune de la question;
