S'inquiétant en même temps de certaines pratiques qui enfreignent les droits de l'homme et les libertés de caractère particulièrement fondamental et sont contraires aux traités internationaux sur les droits de l'homme qui constituent le pilier de la protection des droits de l'homme instituée après la deuxième guerre mondiale, telles que l'incarcération indéfinie d'étrangers sans inculpation précise, ni possibilité de faire examiner la légalité de leur détention par un tribunal indépendant et impartial, le traitement dégradant au cours des interrogatoires, l'interception des communications privées sans que les intéressés en soient par la suite informés, l'extradition vers des pays susceptibles d'appliquer la peine de mort ou la torture ou de mauvais traitements, ainsi que la détention et les agressions au nom du militantisme politique ou religieux,

B. whereas achieving the MDGs, which correspond to a number of human rights (the right to education, health, decent housing, et c.) enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, forms part of a broader approach seeking to promote sustainable development, justice, peace, good governance, and the rule of law,

Considérant que la réalisation des OMD, lesquels correspondent à un certain nombre de droits humains (le droit à l'éducation, à la santé, à un logement décent, ..) entérinés par la Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l'Homme, s'inscrit dans une approche plus large de promotion du développement durable, de la justice, de la paix, de la bonne gouvernance et de l' État de droit,

Reiterates the importance for the Republic of Moldova to adhere to the principles of democracy, the protection of human rights and the rule of law, including the independence of the judiciary, notes in this respect the controversial court decision against Valeriu Pasat, which raises concerns from the viewpoint of internationally accepted standards of justice, and recommends that the Parliamentary Team on Moldova explore thoroughly the legal and human rights aspects of the Pasat case and inform the Assembly of its findings;
24. Réaffirme qu'il est important que la République de Moldova adhère aux principes de la démocratie, de la protection des droits de l'homme et de l'état de droit, y compris au principe de l'indépendance de la justice, note à cet égard la décision controversée d'un tribunal contre Valeriu Pasat, préoccupante du point de vue de la conformité avec les normes internationalement reconnues en matière de justice, et recommande à l'Equipe parlementaire sur la Moldova d'examiner de manière approfondie les aspects juridiques et liés aux droits de l'homme de cette affaire, puis d'informer l'Assemblée de ses conclusions;

− Trafficking in human beings is a modern form of slavery, a serious crime and a severe violation of fundamental human rights which reduces people to a state of dependency via threats, violence and humiliation.

Globally, however, this is a good result which is fully in line with the objectives of Parliament, of the Council and of the Commission, namely to fight human trafficking, this horrible modern slavery, this horrible crime which is not worthy of Europe in 2010 and which is a grave violation of the fundamental rights of so many citizens.
Cependant, de façon générale, le résultat est bon et respecte pleinement les objectifs du Parlement, du Conseil et de la Commission en matière de lutte contre la traite des êtres humains, cette forme abominable d’esclavage des temps modernes, ce crime épouvantable, indigne de l’Europe de 2010, et qui est une grave violation des droits fondamentaux de nombreux citoyens.

This agreement shows a clear desire for rapprochement between Georgia and the EU which has been expressed in recent years through a series of significant political acts, ranging from improved bilateral cooperation between the EU and Georgia to Georgia's accession to the Council of Europe and the European Convention on Human Rights.
