De activiteiten van de groep zijn onderverdeeld tussen enerzijds het op punt stellen van experimentele technieken op grondniveau en hun opstelling in het kader van internationale netwerken zoals het NDACC (Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change), en anderzijds de ontwikkeling van algoritmes voor gegevensverwerking toegepast op verschillende satellietsensoren zoals ERS-2 GOME, ENVISAT SCIAMACHY, MetOp GOME-2 en de toekomstige atmosferische Sentinels.
