This report is provided for by Article 16(c) of Directive 98/44/EC on the legal protection of biotechnological inventions, which lays down that the Commission must transmit each year to the European Parliament and the Council a report on the development and implications of patent law in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering.

– (FI) Madam President, we shall agree to this version of the text in its entirety only in the last vote by roll call, but there is a small mistake in paragraph 17 of the Finnish version of the joint resolution. Paragraph 17 in the joint resolution on the Stockholm summit says in Finnish ‘emphasises the importance of progress in the field of a pioneering technology’, although it should read ‘in the field of biotechnology’. In other words, it is talking about pioneering technology rather than biotechnology.
- (FI) Madame la Présidente, nous n’adopterons cette version du texte dans son ensemble que lors du vote final par appel nominal, mais dans la version finnoise de cette résolution commune, il y a une petite erreur au point 17 ; dans la proposition de résolution commune sur les travaux préparatoires du Conseil européen de Stockholm, donc, au point 17, le texte finnois dit : "réclame des progrès dans le secteur des technologies de pointe", alors que le texte devrait être "dans le secteur des biotechnologies", bref, on parle technologies de pointe, alors qu’il faudrait parler des biotechnologies.
