It was marked by the ERC’s fifth anniversary celebration, the launch of the "ERC goes Global" campaign, the first international agreement with the US National Science Foundation, an ERC Principal Investigator winning the Nobel Prize for physics, and ERC grantees participating in the Summer Davos meeting.

6. Welcomes the publication of a new tax policy package and asks the Commission to put forward an ambitious package of legislative proposals seeking to ensure a fair taxation system, based on the principle that taxes are to be paid in the country where profits are generated, avoiding internal market distortion and unfair competition; considers that such an agenda should include legislative proposals for compulsory country-by-country reporting by multinational companies, a European Tax Identification Number (TIN), the definition of tax havens and the establishment of an EU blacklist with the aim of eradicating them, and proposals needed to move towards legislative agreement on a Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base; considers that the EU’s development and cooperation agenda should also be adapted and conditionality upgraded to effectively fight tax evasion and tax avoidance; calls on the Commission to follow up the recommendations made by Parliament in its legislative initiative report and the TAXE committee’s own-initiative report to ensure tax justice;
6. se félicite de la publication d'un nouvel ensemble de mesures de politique fiscale et demande à la Commission d'élaborer un ensemble ambitieux de propositions législatives destinées à mettre en place un régime d'imposition équitable, fondé sur le principe du paiement des impôts dans le pays où les bénéfices sont constitués, afin d'éviter des distorsions du marché intérieur et une concurrence déloyale; estime que ces propositions devraient notamment imposer aux multinationales de publier un rapport dans chaque pays où elles sont présentes, instaurer un numéro européen d'identification fiscale, définir la notion de "paradis fiscal", dresser une "liste noire" européenne afin de les éliminer et prévoir des mesures destinées à aboutir à un accord législatif sur une assiette commune consolidée pour l'impôt des sociétés; estime nécessaire d'adapter la politique européenne en matière de développement et de coopération et de resserrer les critères de conditionnalité afin de lutter efficacement contre la fraude et l'évasion fiscales; demande à la Commission de donner suite aux recommandations que le Parlement a formulée dans son rapport d'initiative législative et dans le rapport d'initiative de sa commission TAXE afin de garantir la justice fiscale;

Expresses its concern at the increasing number of natural disasters that, according to experts, can be attributed mostly to climate change, and calls on the Commission to take initiatives in order to achieve an ambitious international agreement at the forthcoming fifth Conference of Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 7 to 18 December 2009;

1) In the preamble, after recital 4, the texts of the fourth, fifth and sixth recitals of Regulation (EEC) No 479/92 should be reinstated in the modified form of the following two recitals: ‘(5) Joint service agreements between liner shipping companies with the aim of rationalising their operations by means of technical, operational and/or commercial arrangements (described in shipping circles as consortia) can help to provide the necessary means for improving the productivity of liner shipping services and promoting technical and economic progress, (6) Maritime transport is important for the development of the Community’s trade and consortia agreements can fulfil a role in this respect, taking account of the special features of international liner shipping.

- Chile is a signatory of the Multilateral Agreement on the Liberalisation of International Air Transportation (MALIAT) and an additional Protocol.[7] By virtue of the MALIAT and MALIAT Protocol, Chile grants its partner countries not only unlimited third and fourth freedom traffic rights, but also unlimited fifth and seventh freedom traffic rights.[8]
- Le Chili est signataire de l’Accord multilatéral sur la libéralisation du transport aérien international (Multilateral Agreement on the Liberalisation of International Air Transportation ou MALIAT) et de son protocole additionnel[7]. En vertu du MALIAT et du protocole y relatif, le Chili accorde aux autres pays signataires non seulement des droits de trafic de troisième et quatrième libertés illimités, mais également des droits de trafic de cinquième et septième libertés illimités[8].

3. By the end of the fifth year after the entry into force of this Agreement, Algeria and the European Community and/or its Member States shall, to the extent they have not yet done so, accede to, and ensure an adequate and effective implementation of the obligations arising from, the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (Geneva Act, 1991), known as ‘UPOV’.
3. D'ici la fin de la cinquième année à compter de l'entrée en vigueur du présent accord, l'Algérie et la Communauté européenne et/ou ses États membres, s'ils ne l'ont pas encore fait, adhèrent à la convention internationale pour la protection des obtentions végétales (acte de Genève, 1991), désignée par «UPOV», et garantissent l'application adéquate et efficace des obligations en découlant.
