In order to ensure transparency and the earliest possible provision of all relevant information for parties which may be interested in participating, notices concerning the calls for proposals to be launched on 15 December have in fact already been published for the two specific programmes adopted in June.2 The eight programmes examined by the Council on 29 September account for virtually half (49.3%) of the total budget for the fourth framework programme.3 The following specific programmes were approved: telematics (ECU 843 million), information technologies (ECU 1911 million), standardization, measurement and testing (ECU 173 million), marine science and technology (ECU 228 million), agriculture and fisheries (ECU 607 million), non-nuclear energy (ECU 967 million) and cooperation with third countries and international organizations (ECU 540 million).
