As a matter of fact, substantial support for the elections has been provided mainly through the election cluster of the International Reconstruction Fund Facility for Iraq (IRFFI) which is administered by the UN. The UN has a major role in supporting the Independent Electoral Commission for Iraq (IECI) in organising the elections.
