This article applies when a judgment creditor, i.e. a successful plaintiff, is seeking the enforcement in one Contracting State of a judgment obtained in another Contracting State.

(1.1) Where the Director has notice of an unsatisfied court order or judgment obtained against the veteran for the recovery or payment of money or of an unsatisfied court order or judgment referred to in section 37 obtained against the veteran, the Director may pay into court the surplus referred to in subsection (1) or such part thereof as would satisfy the order or judgment and related costs.

35. Where a person is convicted of an offence under this Act and a fine imposed as punishment is not paid when required, the prosecutor may, by filing the conviction, enter as a judgment the amount of the fine and costs, if any, in the superior court of the province in which the trial was held, and the judgment is enforceable against the convicted person in the same manner as if it were a judgment obtained by Her Majesty in right of Canada against the person in that court in civil proceedings.
35. Faute de paiement, dans le délai fixé, de l’amende imposée pour une infraction à la présente loi, le poursuivant peut, par dépôt de la déclaration de culpabilité auprès de la juridiction supérieure de la province où le procès a eu lieu, faire tenir pour jugement de ce tribunal le montant de l’amende et des frais éventuels; le jugement est dès lors exécutoire contre l’intéressé comme s’il s’agissait d’un jugement rendu contre lui en faveur de Sa Majesté du chef du Canada par le même tribunal en matière civile.

The decision on recognition of the judgment and enforcement of the sentence may be postponed until the translation has been transmitted by the issuing State to the executing State or, where the executing State decides to translate the judgment at its own expenses, until the translation has been obtained.
