- 7 - 3 Agrimonetary measures (see Annex IV) Taking account of previous undertakings, the current monetary situation, the general objective of the price policy and the special case of the cereals sector in the Federal Republic of Germany, the following dismantlement schedule is proposed: - complete dismantlement of the existing real monetary gaps for France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany, with the exception of the cereals sector in the latter Member State, for which the real monetary gap will be reduced to 0.684 points; - for the United Kingdom and Spain, dismantlement of one third of the real monetary gaps applicable at the time when the Council decides on prices for 1990/91; - for Greece, however, the Commission is proposing to dismantle the gaps existing at the time of the Council decision by the rate of inflation minus 5 %.
3. Les mesures agrimonétaires (voir Annexe IV) Tenant compte des engagements précédents, de la situation monétaire actuelle et de l'objectif général de la politique des prix ainsi que de la situation particulière du secteur céréalier en République Fédérale d'Allemagne, le démantèlement suivant est proposé : - démantèlement complet des écarts monétaires réels existants, en France , en Irlande, en Italie, au Portugal, aux Pays-Bas, en République Fédérale d'Allemagne, à l'exception des céréales dans ce dernier Etat, pour lesquelles l'écart monétaire réel sera réduit à 0,684 point ; - 5 - - démantèlement d'un tiers des écarts monétaires réels pour le Royaume-Uni, l'Espagne applicables au moment où le Conseil prendra sa décision prix pour la campagne 1990/91 ; - pour la Grèce dont le taux d'inflation reste largement supérieur à celui des autres Etats membres, le démantèlement des écarts monétaires au moment de la décision prix sera égal au taux d'inflation moins 5 %.

This would result from a reduction of two points in the real monetary gap: - in Denmark for the sheep and goat sector - in France for all sectors except pigmeat - in Ireland for all sectors (c) For Italy, the UK and Spain the Commission proposes dismantling one-third of the real monetary gap on January 1, 1989 in those sectors where MCAs are actually applied and those sectors without MCAs where the gap is larger than 1.5 points (d) For Greece the proposed dismantling is carried out in order to obtain on average a price increase close to the target inflation rate for 1989 (12 to 13%) and to reduce the number of agricultural conversion rates which have to be taken into consideration (e) For Portugal all that is needed is to eliminate the slight negative monetary gaps which have been created/.

In the light of those commitments and the situation with regard to real monetary gaps and MCAs as at 1 January 1989, the Commission is putting forward the following proposal (a) For Germany and the Netherlands, the Commission proposes the complete elimination of real monetary differences; (b) For all of the Member States applying the full disciplines of the EMS to their currencies, taking account of the level of real monetary differences on January 1, 1989, it is proposed to eliminate the gaps in two steps of which the first would take place at the beginning of the 1989/90 season and would imply the elimination of MCAs.

After the reduction in negative monetary gaps on 1 January 1989, there remain a number of monetary gaps the dismantling of which is the subject of past commitments: - abolition of the remaining positive monetary gaps from the beginning of 1989/90 - dismantling of the remaining negative real monetary gaps between July 1988 and the end of 1992 (decision taken in connection with the 1988/89 price review).
Après la réduction des écarts monétaires négatifs intervenue le 1er janvier 1989, il subsiste des écarts monétaires qui ont fait l'objet dans le passé des engagements de démantèlement suivants : - suppression du solde des écarts monétaires positifs au début de la campagne 89/90; - démantèlement du solde d'écarts monétaires réels négatifsentre juillet 1988 et fin 1992 (décision prise lors de la discussion sur les prix 88/89).
