In its publication “Canada's Labour Market Puts in a Strong Performance in 2012”, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce stated that more than half—53.1%—of recent immigrants had university degrees compared to a quarter of the Canadian-born population, but still the unemployment rate for recent immigrants with a university degree was five times higher than that of someone born in Canada.
