In some EU Member States (Spain, Portugal, Greece, Sweden and Finland), air transport is organised through airport groups, to take account of the particular geographical circumstances and enable all citizens and undertakings to access the air transport network.

Five expert working groups have been created, covering transport strategies, infrastructure and public-private partnership; transport security; air transport; maritime, sea-river and inland waterway transport; road and rail transport.

One might say that a majority in this House, drawn from every political group, is united in favouring the adoption of these practical rules for really safe air transport, so, on behalf of my own group, let me thank the rapporteurs and the Vice-President.
