Last week, a very good discussion took place in Brussels with Carl Bildt, the representative of the country holding the Presidency, who called Georgia a litmus test for the European Union, specifically in connection with the question of whether we will some day be able to stand up for the idea that Georgia’s territorial integrity should be restored, and that all human rights and refugees’ rights should be handled as envisaged by international law.
La semaine dernière, à Bruxelles, nous avons eu un débat très constructif avec Carl Bildt, le représentant du pays qui assure la Présidence. Celui-ci a affirmé que la Géorgie constituait un test décisif pour l’Union européenne. Il s’est notamment demandé si nous serions un jour capables de prendre position pour que l’intégrité territoriale de la Géorgie soit restaurée et que les droits de l’homme et des réfugiés soient respectés conformément au droit international.
