It has been a long standing recommendation of the CVM that Bulgaria reviews and updates its national anti-corruption strategy.[26] The first informal results of a recent evaluation of the impact over past years of the Bulgarian anti-corruption strategy, carried out by the Bulgarian authorities, appears to constitute an important contribution in terms of an honest assessment of the shortcomings of the strategy.

Bulgaria stands a good chance to absorb almost seven billion Euro over the period 2007 – 2013 as a full EU member.
