I have to say that what our colleague Mr van Aartsen said during his visit to the Middle East was not just wholly in line with our views on the development of democracy in the Palestinian territories, but an extremely eloquent and effective exposition of our view, as one would expect from him.

But in response to the questions that my hon. friend from the New Democratic Party asked, I would say that scrapping the Senate is the easy way out.

Mike Scott (Skeena, Réf.): Monsieur le Président, puisque j'interviens après mon collègue et ami d'Esquimalt—Juan de Fuca, je ne voulais pas parler beaucoup de la réforme du Sénat, car je sais que ce sujet a déjà été bien couvert, mais, pour répondre aux questions que le député néo-démocrate a posées, je dirai que l'abolition du Sénat serait une solution de facilité.
