Let us consider the first provision of the motion that calls on the House to take action designed to increase the number of signatory countries to the Hague convention on civil aspects of international child abduction.

The participants in the seminar consider that international family mediation may represent an efficient way to resolve cases of international child abduction by parents as mediation often leads to lasting and balanced solutions in the best interest of the child.

They therefore recommend that member states and the Commission consider the possibility of setting up a specific working party within the European Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters which would be tasked with exploring the most appropriate and efficient means to promote and improve the use of international family mediation in cases of international child abduction.
Ils recommandent dès lors aux États membres et à la Commission de réfléchir à la possibilité de constituer un groupe de travail spécifique, au sein du réseau judiciaire européen en matière civile et commerciale, qui serait chargé d'examiner les moyens les plus appropriés et les plus efficaces pour promouvoir et améliorer l'utilisation de la médiation familiale internationale dans les cas d'enlèvements internationaux d'enfants.
